It is with deep sadness and regret to know that we lost “Grandma Beep Beep” tonight ... unfortunately, as a result of this global crisis. Grandma was not only a devoted wife, but she raised a tribe of children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Grandma Mary was an incredible cook, a silly storyteller, and was absolutely the sweetest woman in the world. Grandma saved and collected everything, from eyeglass cases, to hanker-chiefs, to newspaper ads, to napkins we drew on as kids, to notes and cards anyone got her, especially Grandpa. She was able to cure any heartache or worry with a hug, a cup of tea, or a *sangwich* - not to mention her brown gravy sauce (which the *exact* recipe is nowhere to be found). She always dressed like she was going “somewhere”, her goodbyes lasted at least 10 minutes while Grandpa joked by reminding us to press the down button EVERY time (you could never really hang up on her first AND you couldn’t walk down the hallway without turning around 20 times, so it was better if you just walked backwards to the elevator). Her favorite story to tell was the moment she and grandpa fell in love — every time she told it there were new details, unless Grandpa was trying to correct her or be a story-stealer, saying “Hun, what are you talking about?” And she’d respond, “Now, Doll —“. Their apartment was always packed with all of us for the holidays, they always managed to make us all fit. Grandma always genuinely believed in the goodness of everyone (it was cute that she was a little gullible). We have been so blessed to have you this long. Although this is not the way we imagined she would leave us, and although it has broken our hearts that we could not be with her to hold her hand during her final moments, we have found solace in knowing that she’s making her way back to her heart, to Grandpa. Please say a prayer for her. “Now you take care, doll. Love you.” Press the up button this time, Grandma🦋❤️ 🌸🌺🌼🌻 Rest In Peace Grandma Beep Beep • Mary Vitagliano-Bacigalupo 9/3/1928-4/6/2020 Love you, forever. • Please take this virus seriously. Please take care of your loved ones. Remember what matters most.
