Hey! My name is Danielle, although many know me as "Bacci" or "Prof B". I was born and raised in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York ... but have spent the last 13 years living between Queens and Staten Island. I am currently 34 years old, and have been sober since November 12th, 2011. With sobriety, as a gift so freely given to me, I intend to pay it forward and do outreach for the community as a way to give back. As far as my professional life, I am a doctoral candidate at St. John’s University, currently ABD status. Also, I am an adjunct in the First-Year Writing Program for the English Department at CUNY BMCC, for Literature in a Global Context at the Queens and Staten Island campuses of St. John’s University, Lit/Comp courses for New Jersey City University. When not teaching, I continue to develop my research in areas of socially-just pedagogy, (auto)ethnography, recovery activism, and community literacies. Since Wednesday, May 30th, 2018, I have been hosting a community-based live-stream digital storytelling project, “Voices from Rock Bottom”, with, which is a call-in and interview series focused on alcoholism/addiction and recovery narratives within the local Staten Island community/NYC. This wordpress blog site for "Voices from Rock Bottom" will function as the project's archive. Be sure to stay tuned!
